For our 4-Year Anniversary, we invited 4 of our brewery pals to a friendly competition. And in this competition, we all benefit. We challenged them to pick one restaurant and create a 4-course meal paired with their beers.

The team wanted to use this opportunity to support one of DC's black-owned restaurants. We chose HalfSmoke, which coincidentally was also established in 2016. Located in the Shaw neighborhood, HalfSmoke celebrates the art of cooking and encourages guests to continually engage with their culinary experience. Executive Chef Stephen McRae will join us during the tasting to present his food and talk more about the restaurant and their philosophy.

Your menu for the evening:

  • Manor Hill Mild Manor'd Amber (5.3% ABV) with Crab Fries - Presented by Gina Ridder-Beardsley 
    This year-round Amber Ale is brewed with 9 different types of malt, providing flavors of caramel and a touch of biscuit. She's pairing the beer with Blue Crab Fries, with Old Bay and Cajun cheese sauce.
  • Allagash I Believe in Love (5% ABV) with Mac & Cheese Bites - Presented by Matt Pollard
    I Believe in Love is a limited-release Sour Ale aged on raspberries and cranberries. Tart and full of berry notes, the beer is being paired with Mac & Cheese bites made with with Pepper Jack, Jalapeño, Cheddar & Parmesan cheeses.
  • Right Proper Raised by Wolves (5% ABV) with Brisket Meatballs - Presented by Gianna VerriLush and tropical, this year-round dry-hopped Pale Ale is bursting with flavors of citrus and stone fruit. Paired with your entree of Brisket Meatballs with Tomato ragu, whipped ricotta & basil.
  • Boulevard Manhattan Social Club (12.5%) with Peach Cobbler & Ice Cream - Presented by Stephen Tuzeneu
    This limited-release Imperial Rye Ale was aged in a variety of Bourbon barrels with cherry, plum puree, brown sugar, nutmeg, orange peel, lemon peel, star anise and cinnamon added. He's pairing this take on the classic cocktail with Peach Cobbler. Don't forget the ice cream!

At the end of the night, you'll have a chance to vote on your favorite pairing. The winner gets...bragging rights for the year.
